Experience

Ben began his career in corporate restructuring in 1997, having spent over a decade at PwC, and then EWS, ReSolve, and now Evelyn Partners. He has acted as an appointment taking insolvency practitioner since 2016, shortly prior to becoming a partner that year.

Notable achievements

• Specialising in business rescue events, Ben has acted as administrator in numerous sectors including property, charitable fundraising, construction, medicinal cannabis, accountancy, a variety of technology start-ups, and AI. He has also worked on companies with household names, such as Jessops, MG Rover, Ionica and Enron.
• Successfully traded businesses, including a specialist inbound call centre business with Crown and charity clientele, enabling the transfer of over 100 staff and the payment of enhanced dividends to creditors; and a 200-year-old University print provider.
• Appointed monitor in one of the first moratorium cases.
• Having established ReSolve’s solvent liquidation department in 2012, he has been appointed solvent liquidator over 75 companies in the simplification of two former FTSE 250 retailers, and the winding down of a state owned B2C energy business.
• Experience in investigating the wrongful actions of delinquent officers, including instances of mini-bond fraud and giving evidence at Crown Court.
• Advised on a successful debt for equity swap for an over-leveraged tech business in the energy switching sector and led on a variety of independent business reviews for lenders and boards in sectors such as recruitment, manufacturers of car parts and tooling, and engineering.

Professional qualifications/memberships

Ben is a qualified accountant and is licensed as an insolvency practitioner by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Outside of work, Ben spent over a dozen years in a trustee role acting as treasurer for a local Scout district, has two sons, and has an interest in the outdoors, walking, food and its many origins.
