How do you describe what you do?

I have 40 years of investment management experience encompassing private clients, trusts and charities. Evelyn Partners offer a wide range of services including the premier offering of discretionary portfolio management.

What's next for you professionally?

Managing funds for new and existing clients within an experienced team.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Listening is the key and ultimately enjoyment of your role is important.

What's an experience with a client that's stuck with you?

Rather than one specific case, it is where we have been able to help clients who perhaps have recently suffered bereavement and have been struggling to sort their finances and plan ahead.

How did you start off in your career?

I have worked in the same firm for over 40 years having initially joined and taken my stock exchange exams in 1985. I became a member of the London stock exchange in 1989 and mainly dealt with private client work.

What's your area of expertise?

Private client investment management - both discretionary and advisory, along with Trusts, charities and SIPPs. I work within a dedicated team which includes financial planning.

Where do you get your inspiration to embrace what's next?

Family and work colleagues help me focus on what's important.

What's your favourite thing about your role?

Meeting with a wide variety of clients and great colleagues.

What's next for you personally?

I still have great enjoyment in my role and hope to continue building upon existing and new client relationships for many years ahead.

Do you have a significant experience that your clients would want to hear about?

Visiting many elderly clients, some of whom are in nursing accommodation and not only managing their finances but continuing long friendships.

Where's your favourite place to meet with your clients?

Meeting clients at their home has been a great way of getting to know them and their families.

When you're not at work, what's your favourite thing to do?

Long walks with my dogs and a holiday in the sunshine.

Why does my role as a wealth manager matter?

It helps many clients, some of whom are vulnerable to secure their investment future.
