Managing your personal finances across different jurisdictions presents a number of challenges. For example, there are a variety of international pension options. It’s extremely important to understand the often complex cross-border treatment from a tax and financial planning perspective around aspects such as contribution caps and drawing a retirement income.
We can provide you with bespoke financial planning advice in the jurisdictions in which we're authorised and draw on the expertise of our tax planners if required.
You’ll have direct access to our highly qualified team of international financial planning experts who will provide a personalised service tailored to your needs to help protect and grow your wealth.
An entire network
You’ll receive support from our diverse business and international network. We also work closely with offshore lawyers, trustees and other professional advisers.
How we can help
Pre-arrival and pre-departure planning
We provide advice covering the tax and financial planning consequences and considerations of both arriving and departing from the UK, for the short and the long term.
Our experts can structure your money as tax efficiently, flexibly and simply as possible prior to and after arrival in the UK. This includes planning for remittances, clean capital planning and the use of offshore structures. We also provide estate planning advice to non-UK domiciles intending on becoming resident in, or already resident in, the UK.
We offer specialist protection advice for non-UK residents with an insurable interest, asset or financial liability in the UK. This includes advice relating to inheritance tax liabilities arising on UK-situated, high-end residential property, which may be in the process of being or recently ‘de-enveloped’.
We can assist in creating an offshore trust and advise when it is appropriate for your circumstances in order to protect and enhance wealth. As part of our service, we give ongoing advice to the overseas trustees and beneficiaries regarding the underlying investments of the trust, including property investments, as well as considerations such as efficient distribution of funds.
Our specialist financial planners are very familiar with the full range of overseas pension plans from qualifying non-UK pension schemes (QNUPS) and qualified recognised overseas pensions schemes (QROPS), to international pension plans (IPPs) and international annuities. We can review these for clients in the context of their retirement planning objectives.
We provide advice on UK pension schemes for clients who are now or soon will be non-residents and are short-term UK residents.
US connected persons
For US connected persons living and working in the UK and UK ex-pats living and working in the United States, there are unique cross border UK/US tax and financial planning considerations which could impact your existing pensions and investments. Our team can advise in all areas of these.
We can bring together the input of advisers in different jurisdictions as well as oversee the implementation of relevant strategies and following them through.
