Professional Biography
Understanding human emotion is an extraordinarily important part of what we do
How do you describe what you do?
I discuss all areas of personal wealth and specialise in discretionary investment management for individuals, families and family trusts. I manage bespoke portfolios and work closely with clients to achieve their long term financial aims.
What's next for you professionally?
My role and responsibilities have not really changed over the last 25 years and will not change much in the future - I and my team will continue to provide a friendly and professional stewardship of family wealth.

Always look both ways before you cross the road.
What's an experience with a client that's stuck with you?
The first time a client sent me a case of wine at Christmas to thank me for my efforts - it had been a good year!
How did you start off in your career?
I started in the PEP & ISA admin office of Carr Sheppards stockbrokers - I wasn't looking for a career in financial services at the time, but the longer I spent there, the more I enjoyed the work and I had a terrific group of like-minded colleagues.
What's your area of expertise?
I look after people, albeit those that have reasonable levels of wealth. Understanding human emotion is an extraordinarily important part of what we do - given the inevitable changes in clients' personal and financial circumstances.
Where do you get your inspiration to embrace what's next?
From my four children! Being challenged to look at things differently, through the eyes of a younger generation can be enlightening.

Spending time with my clients and knowing that I have done my best to help guide them through some challenging times.
What's next for you personally?
Now my kids are all at or post university age, a little more free time to spend with my wife and friends travelling, playing golf and eating out. I have elderly parents so being able to spend more time with them as well.

Apart from having the experience of working through three serious bear markets, not really!
Where's your favourite place to meet with your clients?
Their house, and / or a decent restaurant. Much better than the office!
When you're not at work, what's your favourite thing to do?
Walk the dog with my wife around Hankley Common (either playing golf or not), having done a cryptic crossword. Bliss!
