Professional Biography
Great advice changes lives.
How do you describe what you do?
I help clients and their families, or Deputies, navigate some of life's most challenging circumstances, to help them make good decisions and get the best outcomes. Gaining trust to truly understand client objectives leads to the best financial plan.
What's next for you professionally?
I look forward to completing my STEP diploma and adding TEP to my credentials, and it's a privilege to continue working with existing clients and meeting new clients where we can make a difference to their lives.
How did you start off in your career?
In 2000, I was a temp on reception for a small IFA and through sheer boredom reading CII manuals. I thought I would enter for the exams and soon became the most qualified person in the building, whilst discovering my passion for IHT planning!
Where do you get your inspiration to embrace what's next?
My clients having exciting retirements and sharing their travel plans inspire me to work harder so I can have equally ambitious plans - eventually! My children inspire me to keep learning, and to be a good role model, as I study alongside them.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
I love the rapid change and continued development in our industry. Whether tax or legislation changes, there's no opportunity to get bored. I also think it's a privilege to have a job where you have to keep learning and sharpening your skills.
Where's your favourite place to meet with your clients?
I love meeting new clients in their home so I get a real feel for their lifestyle, hobbies and passions. Seeing family photographs and meeting the dog - if I'm lucky - is a great start to understanding what a client needs and how I can help.
When you're not at work, what's your favourite thing to do?
Walking my dog in the woods; breathing fresh air, embracing nature and finding space from both emails and the chaos that comes with my children.
Why does my role as a wealth manager matter?
It's not just about growing wealth, we can have an enormous impact on people's lives; IHT planning might also help grandchildren through university or get them on the housing ladder; reviewing investment strategy might mean early retirement.
