Evelyn Partners has expanded the availability of its Model Portfolio Service (MPS), with its Core and Index ranges now accessible through onshore bond wrappers across a number of leading adviser platforms.

The move gives financial advisers greater flexibility when constructing investment solutions for clients who may benefit from holding investments within an onshore investment bond structure, while retaining access to Evelyn Partners' professionally managed MPS strategies.

The firm's Core and Index MPS ranges are now available through onshore bond wrappers on:

  • AJ Bell (Countrywide Assured bond wrapper)

  • Aviva

  • M&G (Chesnara Life bond wrapper)

  • Quilter

  • Transact

The launch broadens the range of tax wrappers available to advisers using Evelyn Partners' MPS proposition and responds to growing demand for investment solutions that can support a wide variety of client planning needs.

Matthew Spencer, Head of Intermediaries at Evelyn Partners, said:

‘Advisers increasingly want the flexibility to combine professionally managed investment portfolios with wrappers that support specific tax planning and financial planning objectives. By making our Core and Index MPS ranges available through onshore bonds across a number of major platforms, we are giving advisers more choice in how they deliver investment solutions for clients.’

Onshore investment bonds can offer a number of potential benefits depending on an individual's circumstances. These can include tax-deferred withdrawals of up to 5% of the original investment each year, the ability to assign policies without triggering an immediate chargeable event in certain circumstances, and opportunities for tax-efficient planning where clients may be basic-rate taxpayers in retirement or at the point gains are realised.

The structure can also provide administrative simplicity, particularly for clients who have fully utilised pensions and ISA allowances, while offering access to a broad range of underlying investments.

Matthew added:

‘Investment bonds are a well-established planning tool and can play an important role for the right clients, particularly those seeking tax deferral, estate planning flexibility or a solution beyond traditional tax wrappers. Advisers can now access our Core and Index MPS ranges within these structures across a growing number of platforms, helping them align investment management with clients' wider financial planning requirements.’

The Core range is designed for clients seeking actively managed, risk-targeted portfolios, while the Index range provides a lower-cost approach centred on passive investments and strategic asset allocation. Bond-compatible versions of the models have been created to ensure compliance with asset availability requirements within the relevant wrappers.

The availability of the bond versions of these models follows extensive work with platform providers to ensure asset compatibility and operational readiness across the selected wrappers. Advisers using the service should ensure they select the designated bond-compatible model versions when investing.

The launch forms part of Evelyn Partners' ongoing investment in its adviser proposition, expanding wrapper choice and improving access to its discretionary portfolio management capabilities across the UK adviser market.
