Triple hire includes market leading Court of Protection and Personal Injury Trust specialist

Leading UK wealth management firm Tilney, which manages over £24 billion of assets for private clients, families and charities, is set to double the size of the discretionary investment management team in its Manchester office with a raft of three new hires. The hires are an important milestone in Tilney’s goal of scaling up its investment management team in Manchester to complement a team of thirteen financial planning professionals in the city. Tilney’s new Manchester hires are Andrew Ramsden, Ben Griffiths and Danielle Bamber, each of whom joins from private bank Brown Shipley.

Andrew Ramsden is a highly experienced investment manager who has worked in private banking and wealth management for nearly three decades. He is both a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Financial Planner. Across his long career, he has worked for RBS, Coutts, Newton and BWD Rensburg and latterly as Private Client Director at Brown Shipley since 2012. Alongside advising wealthy individuals and families, Andrew is widely recognised as one of UK’s leading specialists in the management of investment strategies for recipients of personal injury and clinical negligence settlements and he is a Member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association. This is a highly niche area where Tilney has been growing its capabilities in order to support people whose financial circumstances and needs are unique and often challenging. Andrew will join Tilney in early 2019. Also set to join Tilney as an Investment Director is Ben Griffiths. He will join Tilney next month from Brown Shipley where he has worked as a Client Senior Manager since 2015 where his clients have included entrepreneurs and sports professionals. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh with an MA in Economics, Ben launched his career in Scotland at private bank Adam & Co. followed by an Investment Manager role at Cornelian Asset Management in Edinburgh, before moving to Brown Shipley. Ben is both a Chartered Wealth Manager, a Chartered Member of the CISI and a Member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association. Danielle Bamber recently joined Tilney in Manchester as an Associate Director in the Investment Management team. Prior to this she spent four years at Brown Shipley, initially on the graduate scheme, qualifying as a Chartered Wealth Manager. Danielle holds a BA in Economics from the University of Durham, a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Central Lancashire and is a Member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association.

Alan Edwards, Head of Investment Management, England said: “We are really delighted that Andrew, Ben and Danielle have each chosen to join Tilney. This is an exciting time to be joining Tilney as the business is firing on all cylinders and we are actively looking to recruit new investment management talent across the UK.

“In Greater Manchester, the enlarged investment team will look to strengthen our relationships with other professional services firms including lawyers, accountants and financial advisers as a trusted partner for bespoke investment management. Andrew’s considerable expertise in managing assets for recipients of Personal Injury and clinical negligence awards will also strengthen our ability to support people who have faced life changing circumstances right across the UK.

“The team will also work collaboratively with Tilney’s own financial planners to provide clients with a truly holistic and joined-up approach to their financial affairs. We see great opportunities for developing our presence in the Greater Manchester area. The scaling-up of our investment management team in Manchester, alongside our sizeable operation in Liverpool, is a really important sign of our commitment and ambition to be the leading wealth manager in the North West.”
