At a gala ceremony in London last night Louisa France, Partner, Financial Planning in Tilney’s Leeds office was crowned Financial Adviser of the Year for the North East region in the 2019 Women in Financial Advice Awards. The awards, which were jointly hosted by trade titles Professional Adviser, Retirement Planner and COVER magazines, were established to celebrate the achievements of women working within the UK financial services sector.

Tilney is one of the largest finanical planning and private investment management firms in the UK, with 30 offices across the country, including offices in Newcastle and Leeds. Tilney looks after £25 billion of assets for private clients.

Louisa saw off stiff competition from a North Eastern shortlist that included advisers from rivals Mazars, Rathbones, Sovereign Wealth, Walker Crips and Wesleyan to be named the regional winner. As well as representing a personal achievement for the mum of two and enthusiastic member of the Yorkshire Lass Cycle Club, the award also represents the latest triumph for Tilney’s Leeds office in recent months, having been named both Wealth Manager of the Year and Financial Adviser Team of the Year in the 2019 Yorkshire Finance Awards in February.

Commenting on the award, Louisa France said:

“I am really thrilled to have received this accolade and it is great to see women in our profession getting such recognition. People often assume that financial planning is all about hard headed numbers. However, the most satisfying part of my role is seeing the difference that good financial advice and planning can make to people’s lives. It is human nature to worry about how financially secure we will be in the future and often the people I advise are having to deal with issues such as divorce, ill health or the death of a family member. Helping them work through their financial affairs and see the weight of worry lifted from their shoulders is incredibly satisfying. I never forget that my role is about safeguarding life savings that people have worked hard to build and grow and that carries a huge responsibility.”
