Leading wealth management and professional services group Tilney Smith & Williamson is continuing to recruit new talent during the COVID-19 crisis. The latest addition is Paul Barker, a chartered financial planner with a career dedicated to helping medical professionals with their finances. Paul joins the team in London reporting to Leon Buckley, partner, financial planning.

Paul was previously at Cavendish Medical where he spent nearly six years specialising in advising senior staff working within the NHS, an area that requires a deep understanding of NHS pension scheme.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said: “I have spent a large portion of my career providing specialist advice for those working in the medical profession and their families, including both NHS and private practice clinicians. In recent years, there have been many legislative changes in this area that have meant the nature of the advice given has become increasingly bespoke. Tilney Smith and Williamson recognise this challenge and with their huge network, I will work with a range of experts in various fields, including other financial planners, accountants, investment managers and solicitors all of whom are on hand to provide the best service possible.”

Leon Buckley, partner at Tilney Financial Planning, added: “Members of the NHS face a number of financial challenges that needs specialist advice, such as navigating the advantages and disadvantages of the pension scheme and how these tailor to their other financial planning needs. Paul has a wealth of experience in this field and will be a vital member of our team during an important period of growth for the business.”
