Tilney Smith & Williamson welcomes three new people to Birmingham investment management team

Tilney Smith & Williamson, the leading wealth management and professional services group, has strengthened its Birmingham investment management team by announcing three new appointments. Gavin Hill has joined the firm’s business development team to focus on growing its presence working with IFAs in the Midlands while Dr Aidan France and Sophie Pounds become Assistant Investment Managers.

The news follows the recent announcement that Tilney Smith & Williamson has agreed terms for a new office at Birmingham’s landmark 103 Colmore Row – the tallest office building under construction in the UK outside London – located in the heart of the business district.

Gavin, who has over 20 years experience in financial services, joins Tilney Smith & Williamson from Quilter Cheviot where from 2018 he was Business Development Manager in the firm’s Birmingham office and developed business partnerships with advisers. Prior to that he spent nearly 16 years as a Senior Retirement Consultant at LV= where he developed a portfolio of IFA accounts across the Midlands. Gavin has specialist experience in occupational and personal pensions (including Self Invested Pensions), offshore Bonds and trust planning solutions.

Aidan has joined Tilney Smith & Williamson from Five Wealth Limited in Manchester where he worked from February 2020 as a Financial Planning Manager and previously a Trainee Financial Planner. Meanwhile, Sophie Pounds joins Tilney Smith & Williamson after completing an Accounting and Finance degree at Liverpool John Moores University. During her course she took a year out of study to complete an industrial placement at BDO where she worked as an Audit Assistant.
