New Group Compliance Director, James Collings
Leading investment and financial planning firm Tilney Bestinvest has appointed James Collings as Group Compliance Director, subject to the necessary regulatory approval. Based in the firm’s Mayfair headquarters, James will be responsible for the design and oversight of the regulatory compliance framework for Tilney Bestinvest Group.
James joins the company from global asset management company Schroders, where he spent eight years as Head of Compliance at the UK Private Banking arm before being appointed Head of Compliance, Infrastructure, in December 2012. During his last two years at Schroders, James oversaw the core operations of the UK Asset Management Compliance function and the co-ordination of the regulatory change agenda, and also led a global project to implement a new web-based system for personal account dealing and compliance certifications. James holds a first class law degree from Oxford University, and spent eight years as a solicitor at Linklaters before becoming a legal and regulatory adviser at Merrill Lynch in 1998.
Peter Hall, Chief Executive of Tilney Bestinvest said: “James is an exceptionally high calibre compliance professional who brings considerable experience to Tilney Bestinvest. He joins the business at a very exciting phase of expansion, following the combination of Tilney and Bestinvest last year and with our new joint venture with Saga set to launch later this year. As the business grows and the regulatory landscape evolves it is absolutely vital we continue to ensure we that we have a first class compliance function.”
